Not all homeowners are do it yourself enthusiasts, but whether you’re knowledgeable in this area or not, there are still simple home improvement jobs that can be done. With this thought in mind, it’s good to make sure you’re prepared for even the simplest of tasks around the home by equipping yourself with the right tools for the job. What tools are good to have in your kit? Here are some ideas:
Even small household tasks require the right tools to do a good job. For example, think about the kind of tools you would need for hanging a picture. A tape measure is an indispensable tool to have. A hammer is another invaluable tool, not just for hanging pictures, but many household tasks. A level is another tool that is very helpful to have, as it is really the only way to truly tell if a picture or shelf etc. is straight.
Many homes have problems with plumbing, but in some cases, smaller issues can be easily fixed. If you have a blocked sink or toilet, a very handy tool to own is a plunger. This will often fix the problem (at least temporarily)
A few other tools to have in your home tool kit are:
Safety gloves, goggles and breathing masks
A flash light will always come in very handy.
Duct tape. This is good as it is very sticky and water resistant, and so can be used for temporary repair jobs.
A screw driver set, make sure this includes both flat head and Philips head screw drivers in mixed sizes.
A wrench set
While this is just a sample of the many tools you will find helpful to have in your household tool kit, it is a good start, and will help you with those small, everyday DIY tasks in your home.
